The Ryterski's travel to the rural town of Dos Mangas, Ecuador to meet with the talented artisan Herlinda Gonzalez. She invited them to her workshop to observe the process of handmaking products using toquilla straw, amazing! Herlinda has perfected this weaving over 30 years and has trained over 120 women in the community in this craft which has provided needed income for many families.
Later in the week, they travel to Guayaquil, the largest city in Ecuador…a city filled with culture and art. The Ryterski’s walk around the famous Las Peñas district, take in the sights and sounds, and tour several art galleries. Incredible to see all the talent and colors flowing through this area.
Enjoy the trip!
